The EPA made an announcement last week, and for once, it wasn’t about a new regulation.
Michael Regan, EPA Administrator, announced the formation of a new office for the EPA, one for Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
In his announcement at Commodity Classic in Houston on Friday, he assured the farmers in attendance that employees of this new office would make sure their voices were heard and they were understood.
Regan made his announcement alongside the Secretary of Ag, Tom Vilsack. This was the first time in the history of the show that both offices were there for a general session.
Soundbite: “This will help EPA better work across all our media offices, but more importantly, it creates one-stop shopping for Tom and USDA or those you represent to have that central focal point to ensure we are hearing what USDA is saying, how we resolve the differences between our agencies, what you all are communicating, and how we communicate back to you.” – Michael Regan
Rod Snyder, Regan’s senior adviser on agriculture since October 2021, will be the office’s director. Prior to working on Regan’s staff, Snyder was a lobbyist for the National Corn Growers Association, a Commodity Classic sponsor.
